The (Really) Downside of Author Blogs

I bought a book on Amazon a few weeks ago and just now am getting around to reading it. As I am wont to do I was googling certain aspects of the story and came across the author’s now-defunct blog. About a half hour into reading it I came across the author’s details about the type of sex they are currently having.

It was, I admit, pa*sably interesting in that I had no idea until reading that entry that men actually masturbated.

The problem is that now as I read the book I cannot get the picture of this lonely man and his digital manipulation out of my head and every time I try to read the book I’m just a bit stymied. I guess I’m all for disclosure and authorial honesty, given as I tout it here, but it does sort of take me back to be invited into the intimate parts of real people’s lives.

I fully expect to get pilloried for having sexual hangups. But in my defence it’s not the sex I mind but the sex in the grocery aisle, to put it bluntly. I read blogs where people talk about their sex lives, but I know that going into it. And although some of those people are authors, the blogs where they discuss sex are not their author blogs.

I kind of think that authors need to be careful once they’re published and drawing in a cold audience. It even makes me ponder if I ought toshould I ever be publishedhave a secondary blog that is just about writing. I don’t know.I guess, actually, I’m still working through all of this. I hadn’t planned on writing right now, but on reading. And since I can’t read my chosen novel for the aforestated reasons I’m still playing in the shallow end of these ideas.

Spanish street to be named after Benedict XVI

Madrid, Spain, Aug 29, 2011 / 06:02 pm (CNA).- The Spanish town of Pilar de la Horadada will name a street after Pope Benedict XVI in gratitude to residents who opened their homes to young people during World Youth Day.

The idea to name the street «Pope Benedict XVI» came from a local pastor, Father Francisco Rafael Morato Boronat, reported the EFE news agency.

«The parish sees the naming of this street as a permanent sign of homage and gratitude to the families and entities in the town that helped to make the participation of Pilar de la Horadada during World Youth Day not only exemplary, but also a time of joy and generosity for all the people,» Fr.Morato said.

1st and 2nd

The older boys started school last Monday.They are now both going for the full day!Crazy!They both seem to enjoy it enough.Easton's teacher is a yeller, like a mom heard her yelling on the first day :(.However, when I asked him about it, he said "Yeah, she yells.But just at Kaden and the bad kids." So I guess she won't be yelling at him.;)

Cole doesn't really tell me much about whether he likes or doesn't like things.He just tells me facts...so I guess we'll see when he finally reveals his emotions about it.

So, a quick confession: I cannot (absolutely CANNOT!) turn down a cookie.В They are my biggest weakness.В And they have 2 dozen fresh cookies sent up to our resident's lounge every single day, in 6 varieties!В What's a girl to do??В I can't eat them everyday- this leads down a road I'm not really wanting to go down right now.В But at 3:00 PM every day, I get a sweet tooth.В And they're totally not even that good!!В They're no homemade cookies!В So, I made some cookies that follow all the rules, and that's what I'm packing this week for those cravings.В These recipes look more complicated that they are- don't let the lengthy ingredient list intimidate you!!

Chocolate-Chocolate Chip Cookies
2 Tbsp.butter
1/3 c.yogurt
1.2 c.applesauce (unsweetened)
2 Tbsp.nut butter (I used fresh ground peanut and almond)
2 Tbsp.mola*ses
1/3 c.honey or agave syrup
1/4 c.raw cane sugar
1 tsp.vanilla
2 eggs
1/3 c.cocoa
1 tsp.salt
1 tsp.baking soda
2 c.wh*le wheat flour
1/3 c.milk
1 1/2 c.dark chocolate chips
1/3 c.dried fruit (cranberries, blueberries, raisins, etc)
1/4 c.chopped pecans

In large bowl, combine wh*le wheat flour, salt, baking soda, and milk (this allows the grains in the wh*le wheat flour to soften).В Set aside.

In saute pan over medium heat, add butter and heat until a caramel brown color.В Let cool.

In mixer, cream browned butter, yogurt, applesauce, and nut butters.В Add mola*ses, honey, sugar, and vanilla; cream until smooth.В Add eggs and cocoa; stir.

Incrementally, add the softened flour and stir well.В Add the chocolate chips, fruit, and pecans & stir.В Drop by the rounded tablespoons onto a greased cookie sheet; bake at 375 degrees for 10 minutes.В Cookies will still be soft but not raw in the center; don't overbake or they get quite dry!!В Cool for 5 minutes on pan, and then remove to cooling rack & cool completely.

I hope they always turn out as good as they did this time!

We have also been craving good margaritas lately, but again, most restaurants put tons of sugar in them (not that I let that always stop me!), but we're really trying to make it through the year with this Sonoma Diet business.

So, we made margaritas!В They're on the rocks- that's how we prefer them, actually.В They were so good!!!

Margaritas
(2 servings)

1 1/2 oz.fresh lime juice
1/2 oz.Rose's Sweetened Lime Juice
3 oz.Tequila
2 oz.Cointreau
1/2 - 3/4 c.sparkling water
2 lime wedges per gla*s
ice
salt

To two gla*ses, add lime wedges and ice.В In shaker, add ice, lime juices, tequila, cointreau, and sparkling water.В Shake vigorously!В Pour into gla*ses & top with salt, as desired.

I guess it's a weird Sunday, cookies and margaritas...but delicious!В Both recipes are L.B.originals, so I hope they work if anyone else ever tries them!В Have a great week, everyone!В :)

i have a problem i have a wisdom tooth that is gone and all thats left is the root and now its infected?

and ive been in seroius pain.ive been to the ER and they gave me penniclin becuase its infected and my other wisdom teeth are also gone from constant grinding of my teeth over the years.Does anyone have a solution that includes a natural remedy from the pain?becuase i dont have dental insurance and they wont begin to cover me for at least months becuase i need oral surgery.What can i do to remedy this problem before i go crazyfrom the pain..right now im on darvocet and im taking 1000 milligrams a day of pennicilin for the last 4 days and im supposed to keep taking it for the next 6 days, but im also afraid of the infection returning so i need a natural remedy....fast.

I Need Opinions!!My son just turned 3 and we went to the dentist for his first check-up and found out the he needs a filling and they want to cap his front two teeth because there is a huge cavity between them.Along with a few other things, the bill will be $1,700 for teeth that will fall out in 2 years.We don't have dental insurance (you bet though I will be taking it out by the end of today).A lot of people I have spoke with have said I should just leave his teeth since they are baby teeth, but I am not sure I am comfortable with this.What do you think if it was your child?

My six year old son had to have his top four teeth pulled out when he was two because of cavities.He had a partial to keep his teeth from shifting and we have had to have this put back in several times.Some children just get the short end of the stick when it comes to the teeth which is caused by hereditary genes.If you do not have the caps put on he will end up with a major cavity causing the tooth to need to be removed and a partial put in.In fact my now 3 year old had two silver caps on his top front teeth.

The mantra of the Universe is more, more, more, expansion, expansion, expansion.We will always be in a state of learning, of movement because we are eternal beings and when we make peace with that that is when we are in the flow of All that is ~ When we make peace with the inevitable, that we are always learning, always expanding and we make the decision to go with the flow, no matter what we are observing, life will feel wonderful, life will feel easy because we are allowing ourselves to ride the stream of life.It is only when we try to buck the current, when we try to make things go the way we believe or perceive they should go that we feel any negative emotion.That negative emotion is our wonderful guidance from within letting us know we are not going with the flow.When that happens and you recognize in that moment you have deviated from the source within you, a gentle shift in our thoughts, as subtle as saying, » I want to go with the flow» will turn the tide ~

Symptoms of Shingles
Shingles affects the nerve endings in the skin.An outbreak of shingles is often preceded by a few days of intense pain in the affected area.There may also be Epstein Barr virus type symptoms like fever, chills, fatigue, nausea, loose stools or difficulty urinating.

To make a long story short, I had weight loss surgery 8 years ago and since then, my teeth are in horrible shape.Since surgery, I've had 3 root canals (and I need two more!), three extractions, four crowns, and most recently, a permanent bridge ($2,500 out of pocket because I maxed out my dental insurance two weeks after the first of the year).I can't even begin to count how many cavities I've had filled.For every one I have filled, two more pop up.(I'm being perfectly serious here...I really DO have new cavities at every office visit.The more I try to do for my teeth (brush on prescription fluoride, more frequent brushing/flossing, special mouth washes, etc., NOTHING is working.My teeth continue to deteriorate.Nothing can be done about this, yet my dentist will not pull my teeth and let me get dentures.Any advice?I know it's always better to try to save your real teeth if you can, but this is getting ridiculous.There is nothing that can be done for my teeth.I have fillings in every single tooth in my head (save for the crowns, of course) and now I'm getting cavities underneath old fillings.(And they're not childhood fillings--these are fillings from the last two or three years).Help!

Well you have a frustrating problem...for you and the dentist.Decay rate is tough to treat.First off tips on how to avoid problems: 1.Stay hydrated...meaning water.Decay rate often is higher in those who mouths are dry.Try water, surgarless gums and mints, or anything else without surgar that will increase saliva.Avoid things that dry out your mouth (alcohol (this includes listerine, scope), and caffeine.2.Brush and floss twice daily and consider forking over the money for a sonicare toothbrush.These brushes are designed to take technique out of brushing and can help 3.Fluoride rinses and pastes can help 4.In order to help yourself, you have to understand how decay works....anytime you eat something with surgar the acidity level rises (the bacteria related to decay produce an acid and its the acid that breaks down the tooth).Your saliva helps bring this down to normal but it takes time and it varies from person to person.My worst decayers are sippers...they tend to buy a huge pop or coffee with cream and surgar and sip on it for hours throughout the day...bad bad bad.the acidity level remains high and decay rate is enormous.Fluroide makes your teeth less sensitive to the acidity level, nothing else.I tell my patients often it's not what you eat, its how often that is important.5.Because acidity really affects decay, make sure you avoid acidic foods as much as you can, get reflux treated and consider taking tums after meals (while it has surgar in it it supplies calcium and reduces that acidity) 6.Finally get a scond opinion....it may not be you.I don't want to say your dentist is bad because he/she could be doing everything right but it could be that his fillings aren't perfect which is why they are re-decaying so consider a 2nd opinion.As for dentures...the reason why people avoid them is because they are so hard to get used to.They are hard to keep clean.They are hard to get perfect fits and in general will never be as good as your real teeth.Also without teeth there is very little reason to have a lower jaw (it's growth is really affected by the ligaments that suport your teeth.As one without teeth gets older the bone slowly dimishes and often toward the latter years....there is very little jaw left and almost no support for a denture.This is why the longer you can prolong getting a denture the better.If you do go denture rout though consider implants...while they are very expensive they don't decay

5 Effective Tennis Elbow Flexor and Extension Stretching Exercises

Tennis elbow is another name for tendinitis of the elbow joint, which occurs when the tendons which connect muscle to bone become inflamed and irritated due to overuse or injury.Symptoms include pain and weakness in the elbow, wrist and forearm.Although surgery is sometimes required, a period of rest followed by daily rehabilitative exercises can also be highly effective in treating tennis elbow.
Wrist Flexor and Extensor Stretch
Extend your affected arm in front of you with your palm facing up.Hold of the fingers of your extended arm with the opposite hand and pull them back toward you until your feel a stretch along the underside of your forearm.Hold the stretch for 20 seconds and release.Flip your palm over and bend your wrist so fingers point down toward the floor.Grab the fingers of your extended arm with your opposite hand and pull them back toward you so that you feel a stretch along the top of your forearm.Hold for 20 seconds and release.Do three sets.
Wrist Flexor and Extensor Strengthening
Sit on a weight bench with your feet flat on the floor.Hold a light free weight in the the hand of your affected arm, and rest your elbow on the chair arm or on your knee, with your palm facing up.Slowly curl your wrist up so that your hand comes in towards you.Hold for two seconds at the top of the movement, and release.Flip your arm over so that your palm is facing down and bend your hand back as far as you can.Hold at the top of the movement for two seconds, and release.Perform 10 to 20 repetitions of each exercise.Do three sets.
Supination/Pronation
Sit on a weight bench with both feet flat on the floor.Hold a light free weight in the hand of the affected arm with your forearm resting on your thigh so that you hand with the free weight is extended beyond your knee.Turn your hand so the the free weight is perpendicular to the floor and your palm faces in.Rotate your wrist 90 degrees so that your palm faces the floor and then open it back to the starting position.Repeat this motion 20 times.Next, rotate your wrist 90 degrees so that your palm faces up towards the ceiling.Repeat this motion 20 times.Perform three sets.
Finger Extension
Take a rubber band and wrap it around the fingers of the hand on your affected side, including the thumb.Slowly spread your fingers against the resistance of the rubber band.Just as slowly as you spread your fingers, bring them back together.Repeat this motion 20 times.Do three sets.
Tennis Ball Squeeze
Grip a tennis ball in the palm of the hand of your affected arm.Squeeze it as hard as you can 20 times.Perform three sets.
