On 15 August 2008, three suspects arrested for a case related to a muthi murder have appeared in the Bushbuckridge Magistrates’ Court.

Businessman, Patrick Floyd Mokoena (58), his son, Sydney Toto Mokoena (33) and his son’s friend Mjojo Justice Ndubane (28) are accused of brutally murdering Clarance Brown (25) on 23 February 2008.It is alleged that Floyd approached his son and told him that he desperately needed human body parts to make his four businesses quickly churn big bucks. The suspect owns Lebohang Bar Lounge and a restaurant in Tekamahala Trust, in Oakley, near Hazyview, and a bottle store together with a restaurant in Oakley.

His son, Toto requested his friends, Mjojo Justice Ndubane and another unidentified suspect, to lend him a hand to further his father’s request. They went to search for Clarance Brown, as the body parts needed were supposed to be of a family member, and Brown is a son to a sister of Floyd.

The victim was found at Sizanani 2 Bar Lounge in Oakley with his friends. The suspects waylaid the victim at a bridge where he was supposed to pa*s when going home. When the victim arrived in the early hours of the morning, he saw the known vehicle and they offered him a lift. The suspects made an admission to the police that they cut his body parts while he was still alive inside a blue Venture kombi belonging to Floyd. They then threw the victim’s lifeless body in the middle of the road in Oakley, under false pretence that the victim had been involved in a hit-and-run accident.

The three suspects were arrested by the Organised Crime Unit between 13 and 14 August 2008 while sitting relaxed at their homes, thinking that their evil deeds had gone unnoticed. They were remanded in custody until 26 August 2008.More arrests will follow.
